For the Librarian (Public, School, Academic, Special)
Supplemental Reference Services for Librarians
Many hospital and health sciences librarians can provide supplemental reference services to public, school, academic and special libraries using their specialized expertise and resources to help you with medical and health related questions. Those librarians that can
assist in this capacity are listed by county. Use this link to obtain their contact information and a brief description of the services they can provide.
Collection Development Resources
The HSLANJ Consumer Health Committee would like to help librarians develop or enhance their library's consumer health collection. Our members write articles on consumer health resources for the HSLANJ publication ePulse. Each article is an annotated bibliography of resources in a specific subject area. They can be accessed by clicking the links below.
Continuing Education Classes for Librarians (Class Brochure)
HSLANJ has partnered with the Middle Atlantic Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine to assist with their Consumer Health Workshops. This series of four classes offers librarians the opportunity to increase their ability to appraise consumer health information found on the Internet, expand their awareness of high quality consumer health websites, improve their skills in searching PubMed (the National Library of Medicine's database of journal articles in medicine, nursing and dentistry), and increase their knowledge of the consumer health reference interview and core consumer health resources for library collections.
